NCSD was informed today (12/4/20) that a high school student has tested positive for COVID-19. Via contact tracing, 12 students were identified as close contacts (within 6’ for 15 minutes). Public Health has issued a quarantine for 7 of those students due to unmasked exposure (such as lunch, PE, sports, etc.).

NCSD was informed this afternoon (12/3/20) that an elementary staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Via contact tracing, 21 students were identified as close contacts (within 6’ for 15 minutes). Public Health has issued a quarantine for 2 of those students due to unmasked exposure (such as lunch, PE, sports, etc.).

NCSD was informed today (11/18/20) of the following COVID-19 positive cases:

  • High School Student: Public Health issued a quarantine for 11 students due to an unmasked exposure at a gathering away from school.
  • Middle School Staff Member: Via contract tracing, 3 individuals were identified as a close contact (within 6’ for 15 minutes). Public Health has issued a quarantine for 2 of those individuals.

Via contact tracing, 26 individuals were identified as close contacts (within 6’ for 15 minutes). Public Health has issued a quarantine for 5 of those students due to unmasked exposure (such as lunch, PE, sports, etc.).

  • Central Elementary Staff Member: Via contract tracing, 1 individual was identified as a close contact (within 6’ for 15 minutes) but no quarantine was issued due to both individuals being masked.

NCSD was informed this morning (11/11/20) that a high school student has tested positive for COVID-19. The student is not an onsite learner, but does attend NHS for an extracurricular activity. Via contact tracing, 15 individuals were identified as close contacts (within 6’ for 15 minutes). All individuals were masked so there are no additional exposures/quarantines.

NCSD was informed that a second middle school student has tested positive for COVID-19 this evening (11/10/20). The student was quarantined due to a previously communicated positive case of a sibling, therefore there are no further exposures.

Public health has issued a 14-day quarantine for that person due to unmasked exposure (such as lunch, PE, sports, etc.)

NCSD was informed today (10/31/20) that a high school student has tested positive for COVID-19. Via contact tracing, 14 individuals were identified as close contacts (within 6’ for 15 minutes). Public health has issued a 14-day quarantine for 7 exposures due to unmasked exposure (such as lunch, PE, sports, etc.). Those 7 families have been contacted. The other 7 contacts will not be quarantined but will be contacted by Public Health.

NCSD was informed this morning (10/30/20) that a middle school student has tested positive for COVID-19. Via contact tracing, 22 individuals were identified as close contacts (within 6’ for 15 minutes). Public Health has issued a 14-day quarantine only for the 3 exposures due to unmasked exposure (such as lunch, PE, sports, etc.).  Those 3 families have been contacted. The other 19 contacts will not be quarantined but will be contacted by Public Health.

NCSD was informed this evening (9/29/20) that an online learner has tested positive for COVID-19. The student participates onsite for an extra-curricular activity. Via contact tracing, it has been determined that no individuals met exposure criteria.


9/17/20

NCSD was informed this evening (9/17/20) that a Central Elementary staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Via contact tracing it has been determined that 12 students and 0 staff met exposure criteria and have been placed in quarantine.


9/16/20

NCSD was informed today (9/16/20) that a Middle School student has tested positive for COVID-19. The student has not been at school since 9/10/20. Via contact tracing it has been determined that 11 students met exposure criteria and have been placed in quarantine.


9/15/20

NCSD was informed this evening (9/15/20) that a Central Elementary staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. This staff member first exhibited illness on Thursday morning (9/10/20) and has not been at school with students since Wednesday (9/9/20). Per State protocol, the District contract traced 48 hours prior to symptoms and 37 students were identified as possible exposures. Via communication with the State Department of Public Health this evening, we have been directed to quarantine these 37 students. Given the timing of this directive, the families of these 37 students will receive an email from Central Elementary Principal Chris deNeui tonight with further instructions (return date, lunch orders, device pick-up, etc.). Story County Public Health has also indicated that they will begin calling these families tomorrow (9/16/20).


9/13/20

NCSD was informed this evening (9/13/20) that a Central Elementary student has tested positive for COVID-19. The student was not at school on Friday. Via contact tracing it has been determined that 5 students met exposure criteria and have been placed in quarantine. In addition, the student’s middle school siblings have also been placed in quarantine.


9/11/20

NCSD was informed today (9/11/20) that a Middle School student has tested positive for COVID-19.  The student started showing symptoms on Sunday night (9/6/20).  This student was one of the 36 students previously quarantined and has not been at school this week, therefore there have been no additional exposures.

NCSD was informed today (9/6/20) that a Middle School student has tested positive for COVID-19.  The student started showing symptoms on Friday (9/4/20).  Via contact tracing it has been determined that 36 students met exposure criteria and have been placed in quarantine.


9/5/20

NCSD was informed today (9/5/20) that a High School student has tested positive for COVID-19.  The student started showing symptoms on Thursday (9/3/20).  Via contact tracing it has been determined that 14 students met exposure criteria and have been placed in quarantine.


9/4/20

NCSD was informed this morning (9/4/20) that a High School student has tested positive for COVID-19. Via contact tracing it has been determined that this individual may have exposed 3 students. Each of those 3 families have been notified of their quarantine protocol.


9/3/20

NCSD was informed this morning (9/3/20) that a High School student has tested positive for Covid-19. The student became symptomatic on Sunday (8/30/20) and has not been at school this week. Via contact tracing back to Friday (8/28/20), administration has determined that this individual may have exposed 8 students. Each of those 8 families have been notified of their quarantine protocol.

NCSD was informed this evening (9/3/20) that an employee of the District tested positive for Covid-19.  There were no further exposures.


8/26/20

NCSD was informed late this afternoon that a 6th grade student was diagnosed by a physician as positive for Covid-19. Via contact tracing administration has determined that this individual may have exposed 21 students. Each of those 21 families have been notified.

Late afternoon 8/26/20, the school was contacted that a doctor’s office had diagnosed an individual as positive for COVID-19 and would not be testing this individual.  After learning of a positive diagnosis and the doctor’s decision not to test the student, NCSD made the choice to protect the health and safety of children and staff in our building by contact tracing individuals possibly exposed.

On 8/28/20, NCSD learned the individual was able to get tested on their own at a TestIowa site, and the result of the student’s test was negative.  Families of the original 21 students were notified.


8/14/20

NCSD was informed this evening (8/14/20) that a Nevada fall sports athlete tested positive for Covid-19. Via contact tracing it has been determined that this individual may have exposed 12 athletes. Each of those 12 families have been notified.


8/13/20

NCSD was informed today (8/13/20) that a Nevada fall sports athlete tested positive for Covid-19. The individual’s symptoms started on the afternoon of August 10, s/he was tested on August 12, and received the positive result on August 13. Via contact tracing it has been determined that this individual has not been around other athletes at school since August 7, therefore there has been no additional exposure.
