October Trivia Night

The Nevada School Foundation is again proud to present TRIVIA NIGHT with this month’s theme of Halloween  on Saturday, October 30th.  Doors open at 6pm; trivia starting at 7pm at Christy Hall (***note the new location***). The table with the best decorations and/or costumes wins a free night of Trivia for each team member. Admission is $12.50/person (8 players max per team); $75.00 minimum/table for fewer than 6 players. Fee is tax-deductible. No spectators. Angel Tree 2021

It is Angel Tree time again! If you are in need of assistance or would like to help a local child, please follow the information below. 

If your family is in need of assistance from the Angel Tree Program this holiday season:

Please fill out the form at the following link by Friday, October 15th.  If you need assistance filling out the form, please contact the NCRC office at 515-382-1600 or email Jodi or Chris.


To ensure privacy for families participating in the Angel Tree Program, a number will be assigned to each child’s angel rather than using the child’s name. Please list what you feel are the most important needs/wants of your child. It is very important to indicate the SIZE of all clothing/shoes that your child is in need of. Also, be specific about requesting games, books etc.. so that the person purchasing for your child has a better idea of what your child really wants.

At the end of the Angel tree request form there will be a “submit” button that you must click so that we receive your request. You will receive an emailed copy of your response after it is submitted. Please be sure you receive this email copy so you know your request was received.

Angel tree pick-up will be on Saturday, December 18th. As this date approaches, we will notify you of pick-up details. 

If you want to help a local child:

    • To purchase for a local child, starting Monday, November 8th, angels can be chosen at the NCRC (1037 8th Street), United Methodist Church (1036 7th Street) and at Central Elementary School (925 H Ave). Please make sure you write your contact information and the number of your angel on the provided sign out form.
      • All purchased gifts MUST be returned to the NCRC by Monday, November 29th. 
      • DO NOT wrap the gifts, but you can donate wrapping paper if you choose to do so.
      • Please include your name and angel number when you drop off your purchases.
    • If you would rather make a monetary donation, your checks can be made out to “NCRC Angel Tree''. Please mail it or drop it off at the NCRC, 1037 8th Street.

Summer Meal Program

Nevada Community School District is participating in the USDA Summer Food Service Program. They will be sponsoring meals at the following locations over the summer to All Children 18 years of age or younger without charge.

Central Elementary - 925 H Avenue, Nevada

  • Hot Lunch will be served in the school cafeteria
  • Starting on June 14th until August 20th
  • Between 12:00 - 1:00 pm Monday - Friday
  • A Grab & Go Breakfast will be offered daily

Colo Methodist Church - 602 4th Street, Colo

  • Grab and Go Lunches will be handed out on Monday & Wednesday
  • Each pick up will have two lunch day meals provided
  • Starting on June 14th -July 28th
  • Lunches can be picked up between 11:00 - 11:30 at the church
  • Sign up is encouraged weekly by emailing Kim Heidemann klheidemann@gmail.com

Colo Library - 309 Main Street, Colo

  • A full week of Grab & Go Snacks will be handed out on Fridays
  • Starting on June 18th - August 20th
  • Snacks can be picked up between 11:00 - 12:00 at the library
