Students who have met the requirements for graduation will be allowed to participate in the commencement proceedings provided they abide by the proceedings organized by the District.   It is the responsibility of the principal to solicit input from each graduating class regarding the proceedings for their commencement.

Failure of a student to participate in commencement will not be a reason for withholding the student’s final progress report or diploma certifying the student’s completion of high school.

Participants in commencement exercises must be eligible to receive a signed diploma.  Students who do not have the required number of credits or the required courses are not eligible to participate.  Students not wishing to participate may be excused from commencement activities upon signed request (by the parent if the student is under 18).  Foreign exchange and/or dual-enrolled students completing in good standing may participate at the discretion of the superintendent (or designee), however, will receive a certificate of attendance in lieu of a diploma.     Commencement exercises shall be secular in nature.
